Microsoft Surface Firmware Updates
In order to keep Microsoft Surface devices running in optimal condition, it is recommended to check for firmware updates directly from Microsoft on a monthly basis.
For Surfaces running the Windows 11 Operating System:
- Click the Start button and select Settings.
- In the Settings window, select Windows Update from the tab on the left.
- Click the dropdown on Check for updates and select Check online ...
After the outstanding updates are retrieved, they will be downloaded and installed automatically. Once all the updates have been installed, perform a Restart as soon as you can to finish the installation of all the updates. Repeat steps 1-3 above until there are no more updates to apply.
For Surfaces running the Windows 10 Operating System:
- Click the Start button and select Settings
- In the Settings window, select Update & security
- Select the Windows Update tab on the left
- Click Check online for updates ...
After the outstanding updates are retrieved, they will be downloaded and installed automatically. Once all the updates have been installed, perform a Restart as soon as you can to finish the installation of all the updates. Repeat steps 1-4 above until there are no more updates to apply.
